How do we choose the charities we support?

We really value your contributions and want to make sure your generosity doesn't go to waste, and so we follow an extensive process to make sure we support truly worthy causes.

The process we follow includes:

1. Decide on a Cause

We like to balance our monthly charities across a range of causes and so assess themes such as education, healthcare, environmental conservation and poverty alleviation. We focus on matters that will resonate with a wide range of people and make a large amount of benefit.

 2. Research Charities who support this Cause

Once we've decided on a worthy cause, we conduct extensive research into the charities who support work with this cause.

We want to make sure that the charities we choose:

• Are charities who are making a real difference;

• Where they can really use the funds that we provide to drive change;

• Have sufficient resources available to use the funds provided; and

• Have minimal administration and marketing costs so as much money as possible goes to helping the cause.

We use resources such as the following to help narrow down the selection:

• CharityNavigator.com: Provides information on financial transparency, overhead costs, and ratings.

• Givewell.org: Ranks charities based on impact and effectiveness.

• CharityWatch.org: Offers evaluations and ratings.

 We also run other meticulous checks, such as delving into the charities financial statements and past history to ensure they really can deliver on your donation.

 3. Prioritize Impact and Efficiency

Finally we prioritize impact to ensure your donation makes a real difference:

 We look at how the charity measures its impact and look for evidence of positive outcomes. We also assess how efficiently they use funds, prioritising speed as well as minimal administration and marketing costs, so that most of your donation directly benefits the cause as quickly as possible.

At Apps for Humanity, we want your donation to support charities which align with your values and who create meaningful change. We take our time and conduct thorough research to ensure we choose wisely!

How do I make a donation?

With Apps for Humanity, we make it as easy as possible to give back.

Simply download our app from your relevant app store and we'll automatically charge you a small monthly amount which we donate to the monthly charity on your behalf.*

Your monthly subscription is managed through the apple app store or google play store depending on the type of mobile device you use. We don’t handle any payments or personal information directly, so you can be sure that your financial and personal information is in their safe hands. We simply receive this payment through their subscription processing services and pass it on to worthwhile causes. 

*We donate all funds minus a payment processing fee charged by apple or google, as well as a small administration fee which keeps us up and running. See the "Where does my donation go?" FAQ for more information on exactly where your money goes.

Where does my donation go?

We really value your donations and do everything we can to keep our operating costs as small and transparent as possible to ensure that the majority of your donations go directly to supporting worthwhile causes.

Currently the payment processing fees from Apple and Google are very high. We are working with these companies to have these fees reduced.

Donated funds:

Once your donation has been given to the selected charity, they have freedom to allocate the funds to wherever they see them best serving. Where Apps for Humanity is able to influence this decision, we will aim to have the donation go directly toward causes that align with out mission and values i.e. directly towards making a difference.

 Apps for Humanity Administration Fee:

Apps for Humanity receive a small administration fee from all donations. This fee allows us to:

• Thoroughly research and select worth while charities to support.

• Raise awareness for the charities we support

• Covers our operating expenses so that we can keep giving back

 We keep this administration fee as low as possible so that as much of your donation as possible goes directly toward supporting worthy causes and making a difference!

How do I cancel my donations?

At Apps for Humanity we understand that your circumstances can change and so we make the cancellation process as easy and simple as possible.

 Apps for Humanity uses the subscription services of the Google Play Store and Apple App Store to manage all payments.

To cancel your subscription you can simply:

Uninstall the Apps for Humanity app from your smart device - this will automatically stop your subscription to our service.

Or

Navigate to the payments and subscriptions area of the Apple App Store (IOS) or Google Play Store (Android) to stop the service.

How can I do more to help?

By being an Apps 4 Humanity Patron you are already an amazing person who is contributing to a better world. If you’d like to take your support a step further here are some ways to help:

1. Volunteer Your Time: Offer your skills and time to assist the charity directly. Whether it’s helping at events, tutoring, or participating in community outreach, your hands-on involvement can make a significant difference.

2. Spread Awareness: Be an advocate! Use your voice and social media platforms to raise awareness about the charity’s cause. Educate others, share success stories, and encourage more people to get involved.

3. Get your friends and Family on Apps 4 Humanity: Encouraging your friends and family to install the Apps 4 Humanity app is an easy and effective way to multiply your contribution.

4. Donate Goods: Instead of money, consider donating items the charity needs. Food banks, shelters, and animal rescues often appreciate non-monetary contributions like canned goods, clothing, or pet supplies.

5. Skill-Based Support: Leverage your professional expertise. Offer pro bono services such as legal advice, graphic design, or marketing. Your specialized skills can enhance the charity’s operations.

6. Fundraising: Organize events or campaigns to raise funds for the charity. Host a charity run, bake sale, or online auction. Engage your community and inspire others to contribute.

Is my information and privacy safe?

At Apps for Humanity, we aren't in the business of capturing and selling your information. We don't require any signup or registration process and so don't hold any of your personal data.

Your donations are managed directly through your google or apple account which means we don't hold any of your payment information directly.

While we can't speak to the methods used by Apple or Google, these are two of the biggest and most secure technology companies around and both have extensive processes in place to protect your personal and payment information.
